How this tool works
Etsy gives you 13 tag slots per listing, and each tag can be a maximum of 20 characters, spaces included. Go one character over and Etsy silently truncates or rejects it — which means a keyword you were counting on for search never actually gets indexed.
- Paste your tag list into the box above — one tag per line, or comma-separated, either works.
- Click Analyze tags to see a character count for every tag, plus a color-coded status.
- Red means the tag is over 20 characters and needs trimming before it'll save. Amber means the tag has 6 or more characters of unused room — space you could fill with an extra keyword. Green means the tag is well used.
- Edit tags directly in the list to fix them on the spot, then hit Copy cleaned tags to grab a comma-separated list ready to paste back into Etsy.
Why unused room matters: a tag like "coastal png" uses 12 of 20 characters — the other 8 are search real estate you're leaving empty. Etsy tags don't need to be full sentences, but a short one-word tag is usually a missed chance to work in a second, more specific keyword.
